Popcorn-Making Nonprofit Moves to Larger Space to Meet Growing Demand

According to the Hartford Business Journal, Prospector recently leased a 5,000-square-foot space at Nod Hill Brewery, 137 Ethan Allen Highway, Ridgefield, to build a full-scale popcorn factory. The factory, leased from Riverside Real Estate LLC for five years, will contain various machines to produce flavored popcorn, increasing Prospector’s annual popcorn revenue from $250,000 to $1 million. The new factory will initially employ about 10 out of the company’s 120 employees, aiming to support Prospector’s mission of creating jobs for persons with disabilities while expanding its reach to hotels and regional supermarkets.
