$30M Hartford warehouse conversion to create 220 jobs at new industrial laundry facility

According to the Hartford Business Journal, Unitex Textile Services LLC is investing $21 million to convert a 130,000-square-foot warehouse at 121 Wawarme Avenue in Hartford into a large-scale industrial laundry facility. The building, purchased for $9 million by a Unitex subsidiary in early 2024, previously housed a newspaper inserting operation and is undergoing significant renovations, including a roof-raising from 22 to 32 feet to accommodate advanced automation systems. Once operational, the facility will consolidate operations from three existing Connecticut sites and is expected to employ up to 220 people.
