According to the Hartford Business Journal, the Groton Shoppers Mart on Poquonnock Road in Groton, anchored by a Big Y supermarket, was sold for $15.1 million. The 171,858-square-foot shopping center, consisting of four buildings, was purchased by a joint venture between Broadview Real Estate Partners and Sigmund Cos. The new owners plan substantial improvements, including new paint, landscaping, façade enhancements, and signage, with up to 22,000 square feet currently available for lease. The property has been owned by a private investor since its construction in 1961.
