According to the Hartford Business Journal, the U.S. Navy awarded an initial $87.8 million construction contract to Weeks-Cashman for the replacement of Pier 31 at the Naval Submarine Base in Groton, with the total value potentially reaching $95.6 million if all options are exercised. The pier, last rebuilt in 2012 to accommodate Los Angeles and Virginia-class submarines, will be extended to support Block V Virginia-class vessels equipped with the Virginia Payload Module.
