According to the Hartford Business Journal, construction is set to begin on a new mixed-use residential development at the former First Congregational Church site on Union Street in downtown New London, where the historic church was demolished following the collapse of its 150-foot steeple in January 2024. Eastern Connecticut Housing Opportunities (ECHO) acquired the property six months later for $125,000 and also assumed debts associated with Engaging Heaven Ministry, while committing to reimburse the city $250,000 for demolition and site cleanup costs.
