According to the Hartford Business Journal, the Capital Region Development Authority approved a $3 million state grant to support stormwater infrastructure improvements near Bushnell Park in Hartford. The funding will help construct a mile-long pipe system to redirect runoff from the Bushnell South area into the Park River, enabling redevelopment of roughly 20 acres of underused buildings and vacant lots. The Metropolitan District will contribute $1.5 million toward the $4.5 million project using developer-paid fees, not ratepayer funds. This infrastructure upgrade is expected to facilitate the construction of over 1,000 apartments and reduce future costs associated with separating stormwater and sanitary sewer lines.
