According to the Hartford Business Journal, New Britain has secured a $6 million state grant to demolish buildings at its former Department of Public Works on Harvard Street and prepare the 3.1-acre site for redevelopment. The site, located near a CTfastrak bus stop, is planned to become a mix of multifamily housing and other uses. The city has tentatively chosen The Day Brothers for the project, modeled after their development in Westbrook, Maine. The redevelopment will also involve realigning East Main Street, with additional state and federal grants expected to cover costs.
