According to the Hartford Business Journal, Athena Health Care Systems has sold five of its Connecticut nursing homes for over $30 million, including properties in Ridgefield, Trumbull, Glastonbury, Seymour, and Southington. The sales were made to National Health Care Associates Inc., which has been expanding its network in the region. This move is part of Athena’s strategy to streamline its operations, leaving it with eight facilities in Connecticut. Additionally, the Abbot Terrace Health Center in Waterbury is set to close due to losing federal healthcare reimbursement.
