According to the Hartford Business Journal, Electric Boat is investing over $30 million to acquire the 542,000-square-foot Crystal Mall on 42 acres in Waterford, about 5.5 miles from its Groton shipyard. The property will be converted into an engineering and training center to support Columbia-class submarine production and is expected to house 4,000–5,000 employees by mid-2027.
