According to the Hartford Business Journal, Windham Energy Center has withdrawn its application to develop a 325-megawatt battery storage facility in Killingly, a project estimated at $200 million and planned for land adjacent to existing Eversource transmission lines. NTE Energy previously approved the site in 2019 for a natural gas plant, but it later dissolved, creating complications for new development. Concerns raised by local officials over fire risks, noise, and emissions led to requests for plan modifications and additional information.
