King Industries to expand to Waterbury CT

Specialty chemical manufacturers, King Industries, Inc., has purchased an 11-acre remediated brownfield site at 1975 Thomaston Avenue, Waterbury, CT to expand its Norwalk-based operations. The growing company is planning to construct an 80,000 square foot, $50M manufacturing center in the Waterbury Industrial Commons.

Gun parts maker expands in Branford CT

Wilson Arms, a Branford CT based manufacturer of gun barrels, has recently announced it will be expanding operations with its purchase of 48 North Branford Road, Branford, a 26,000 square foot manufacturing plant. The company presently has approximately 50 employees and plans to add another 10 employees with its most recent expansion. Most of the expansion will come from the relocation of machinery from its plant in Bristol Wisconsin.

Century Spring to expand in Bristol CT

Century Spring Manufacturing Co., Inc. has purchased 100 Wooster Court, Bristol, CT for $975,000. The company had considered relocating earlier this year before the Bristol Development Authority offered them a grant, along with a partial tax abatement to stay in the city. The global custom spring manufacturers will spend an additional $1M on upgrading the 33,000 SF industrial facility.

Cannondale opens new HQ

According to the Hartford Business Journal, bicycle manufacturer Cannondale Sports Unlimited has recently opened its new headquarters in Wilton CT. The Connecticut based company reportedly outgrew its existing space and relocated into 51,000 square feet for its R&D, engineering and marketing operations.

Simmons expands in Agawam MA

McDonough, Georgia based Simmons Manufacturing Co, LLC has recently leased 48,960 square feet of office and warehouse space at 101 Almgren Drive, Agawam MA. Simmons, which has existing operations in the Agawam Regional Industrial Park, will reportedly utilize the new space for raw material warehouse and storage. The newly leased space has approximately 2,500 square feet of office space as well as 24’ – 28’ clear height in its warehouse. 101 Almgren Drive is owned by California based Four Cities Partners Ltd and master leased (and substantially occupied) by Seattle, Washington based Vaupell Holdings, Inc.  

Hart Group International, a collaborative effort of Hartford, CT based Sentry Commercial and Southampton, PA Hart Corporation, was the sole broker in this lease transaction.

Transfer Enterprises expands in Manchester CT

Transfer Enterprises recently expanded its operations by leasing 260 Progress Drive, Manchester CT – a 56,000 SF high bay distribution building located in the Manchester Industrial Park.  Transfer Enterprises specializes in the liquidation, valuation and buyback services of used, refurbished and new office furniture.  The company is headquartered in Manchester CT with locations in South Windsor and East Hartford.

OPM expands in South Windsor CT

  

Oxford Performance Materials (OPM), has leased 12,000 SF at 250 Nutmeg Road South, South Windsor CT. The 32,800 SF multi-tenant industrial facility on 5.34 acres was built in 1988. OPM develops and commercializes advanced materials technologies for applications including 3D printed biomedical devices and 3D printed industrial parts.

Brunner Holding Company, LLC has purchased 81 Commerce Drive, South Windsor CT from TonSha Marketing-Printing.  The 5,820 SF industrial facility on .78 acres sold for $480,000.

Ashley HomeStore expands CT operations

Wisconsin based furniture retailer, Ashley HomeStore, recently signed a lease at 115-127 Park Avenue, East Hartford.  They are leasing 30,000 SF of warehouse space to support their retail operations in Connecticut.

Amazon coming to Windsor CT

It’s official – Amazon.com is opening a new fulfillment center in Connecticut. The $50M, 90-acre facility on Day Hill Road in Windsor will span 1,000,000 SF on the ground floor and include a 500,000 SF mezzanine and 79 docks. Groundbreaking is expected this December.  The facility will open sometime at the end of next year, creating over 300 full-time jobs.

According to the New England Real Estate Journal, Tennessee-based Fortis Business Media LLC, an employment, safety and environmental compliance solutions company, has signed a long-term lease for 25,000 SF in the Old Saybrook Business Park. Mill Rock Leasing LLC is the landlord of the 110,000 SF flex facility located at 141 Mill Rock Road East, Old Saybrook, CT.

Portable storage and moving company 1-800-Pack-Rat has leased 76,270 SF

Office furniture, interior architecture and technology solutions company Red Thread has leased 104,425 SF

This multi-tenant facility on 17.23 acres was built in 1995.

Avery Dennison to Close Chicopee plant

According to a recent press release by WGGB, Avery Dennison has announced it will be closing its Chicopee MA facility and transferring the work there to company facilities in Mississippi and Mexico. The 280,000 square foot facility is slated to close in June 2014.

Warren Corp closing in Stafford CT

One of the (if not THE) last textile mills in the State of Connecticut (if not the region) is closing in April. Warren Corp. will lay off its remaining 85 workers and close its Stafford CT plant after over 160 years of operations.
