SLB opens Phoenix AZ office
Avon CT based accounting and consulting firm, Saslow Lufkin & Buggy LLP, has recently expanded its operations to Phoenix AZ. SLB recently signed a long term for 1,586 square feet of office space at 3020 Camelback Road, Phoenix AZ. SLB will immediately occupy the space at the two story, Class A, WAM Development Group owned office building.

ClearEdge Power closes In South Windsor CT
Sunnyvale CA based fuel cell manufacturer, ClearEdge Power, has closed its facility in South Windsor CT. According to a recent Hartford Business Journal article, ClearEdge has sent a letter to the State of CT announcing the closing and attributing the closing to a sudden business downturn and cash flow shortfall. The closing affects 268 employees.

3M CUNO closing Enfield CT facility
Minneapolis MN based 3M has recently announced the closing of its Enfield CT facility, affecting 142 employees and placing approximately 120,000 square feet of manufacturing space on the Northern CT market. 3M reportedly will be shuttering the plant by the end of 2014.

Blue Line expands to Windsor CT
Blue Line Foodservice Distribution has expanded its nationwide operations to Connecticut. The full service foodservice, restaurant equipment, and supply company has leased 31,028 square feet at 75 International Drive, Windsor. The 117,000 square foot industrial facility is owned by Tradeport Development II, LLC.

Hallmark sells Enfield CT warehouse
Hallmark Cards has sold 35 Manning Road, Enfield, CT for $3.5M. The buyer, Enfield Distribution Center, LLC, plans to renovate the 235,000 square foot warehouse to attract new tenants. Hallmark Cards has consolidated its distribution operations to a newer warehouse on Bacon Road.

The expansion space will accommodate a members-only facility. Chelsea Piers also announced it will hire 80 more employees to staff the new operations.

Theraplant to open Watertown facility
Theraplant, LLC, an organic medical therapy research company, has purchased 856 Echo Lake Road, Watertown, CT for $2M. The 63,000 square foot industrial building will be renovated for use as a medical marijuana growth facility and is expected to be open for business this summer.

Safelite relocates to Cromwell CT
Safelite AutoGlass has relocated from East Hartford to a new 36,000 square foot facility at 40 Sebethe Drive, Cromwell, CT. The new SuperCenter is 10,000 square feet larger than the former Prestige Park Road location, allowing room for 15% more in-stock inventory for the windshield repair company as well as 10 new employees.

SIOR CT market survey upbeat
The Connecticut/Western Massachusetts chapter of SIOR recently released its Q3/Q4 market survey and the overall study showed a marked improvement in chapter members’ outlooks for 2014. The overall opinion is that 2014 should generally show improvements in the office and industrial sectors. Office and industrial vacancy rates will continue to improve and sales and lease pricing will continue to stabilize and slightly increase.

Pfizer Inc.’s Building 118 is in the process of being demolished. This commences the previously announced demolition of the pharmaceutical company’s former research headquarters.

State of CT makes marijuana growers decision
The State of Connecticut has selected four different growers for its medical marijuana program. Instantly four facilities in the state have essentially been leased and are off the market.
The locations are as follows:
Curaleaf LLC – 100 Grist Mill Road, Simsbury.
Advanced Grow Labs, LLC – 400 Frontage Road, West Haven
Theraplant, LLC – 856 Echo Lake Road, Portland
CT Pharmaceutical Solutions, LLC – Portland CT (exact location unknown)
