State of CT makes marijuana growers decision

The State of Connecticut has selected four different growers for its medical marijuana program. Instantly four facilities in the state have essentially been leased and are off the market. 

The locations are as follows:

Curaleaf LLC – 100 Grist Mill Road, Simsbury.
Advanced Grow Labs, LLC – 400 Frontage Road, West Haven
Theraplant, LLC – 856 Echo Lake Road, Portland
CT Pharmaceutical Solutions, LLC – Portland CT (exact location unknown)

Menck expands into Chicopee MA

Germany based Menck Windows USA, manufacturers of custom, finely crafted windows and doors throughout North America, has leased 72,060 SF at 77 Champion Drive, Chicopee, MA.  Menck will utilize the new space for the manufacturing of its products and will sell those products directly to the North American commercial and residential building markets.

West Hartford CT based JADE Marketing Group has signed a long-term lease at 353-407 Alumni Road, Newington, CT.   The Amethyst and T.K. Axel Jean manufacturers have leased 309,000 SF of the 616,000 square foot, former Fafnir manufacturing facility.

Sustainable Innovations, LLC has leased 4,351 square feet of industrial space at 111 Roberts Street, East Hartford, CT from 111 Roberts Street LLC.   Sustainable Innovations develops products for critical energy and industrial applications. Sustainable presently has two facilities in Glastonbury and has relocated its 172 Oak Street manufacturing operation to the new Roberts Street facility.

Industrial sale in East Longmeadow MA

Garden Park LLC has recently purchased 35 Industrial Drive, East Longmeadow MA, from Kimball Brothers Realty, LLP.  The 125,000 square foot warehouse/manufacturing facility sold for $2,050,000. Garden Park will reportedly utilize a portion of the facility for its warehouse needs. Plastipak Packaging, Inc., who presently leases 65,000 square feet, will remain in the facility.

King Industries to expand to Waterbury CT

Specialty chemical manufacturers, King Industries, Inc., has purchased an 11-acre remediated brownfield site at 1975 Thomaston Avenue, Waterbury, CT to expand its Norwalk-based operations. The growing company is planning to construct an 80,000 square foot, $50M manufacturing center in the Waterbury Industrial Commons.

Gun parts maker expands in Branford CT

Wilson Arms, a Branford CT based manufacturer of gun barrels, has recently announced it will be expanding operations with its purchase of 48 North Branford Road, Branford, a 26,000 square foot manufacturing plant. The company presently has approximately 50 employees and plans to add another 10 employees with its most recent expansion. Most of the expansion will come from the relocation of machinery from its plant in Bristol Wisconsin.

Century Spring to expand in Bristol CT

Century Spring Manufacturing Co., Inc. has purchased 100 Wooster Court, Bristol, CT for $975,000. The company had considered relocating earlier this year before the Bristol Development Authority offered them a grant, along with a partial tax abatement to stay in the city. The global custom spring manufacturers will spend an additional $1M on upgrading the 33,000 SF industrial facility.

Cannondale opens new HQ

According to the Hartford Business Journal, bicycle manufacturer Cannondale Sports Unlimited has recently opened its new headquarters in Wilton CT. The Connecticut based company reportedly outgrew its existing space and relocated into 51,000 square feet for its R&D, engineering and marketing operations.

Simmons expands in Agawam MA

McDonough, Georgia based Simmons Manufacturing Co, LLC has recently leased 48,960 square feet of office and warehouse space at 101 Almgren Drive, Agawam MA. Simmons, which has existing operations in the Agawam Regional Industrial Park, will reportedly utilize the new space for raw material warehouse and storage. The newly leased space has approximately 2,500 square feet of office space as well as 24’ – 28’ clear height in its warehouse. 101 Almgren Drive is owned by California based Four Cities Partners Ltd and master leased (and substantially occupied) by Seattle, Washington based Vaupell Holdings, Inc.
