According to the Hartford Business Journal, Hartford officials are seeking to postpone the city’s next property revaluation by one year, moving the scheduled reassessment from 2026 to Oct. 1, 2027. The proposal, which was introduced to the City Council and referred to a committee for review, follows state legislation that grants Hartford a one-time opportunity to delay the process. City leaders argue that rising residential property values and declining commercial office values could otherwise shift a greater portion of the property tax burden onto homeowners, particularly as downtown office vacancies remain elevated.
