According to the Hartford Business Journal, Connecticut has begun the first phase of a three-part, $1.6 billion rail improvement project between Stratford and Bridgeport aimed at increasing speeds and reliability along the New Haven Line. The initiative will upgrade 3.1 miles of track, replace catenary infrastructure, construct a new station, improve bridges and roadbeds, and raise track standards to allow train speeds of up to 90 mph in certain areas.
