According to the Hartford Business Journal, Connecticut lawmakers approved legislation allowing the City of Hartford to delay its scheduled property revaluation by one year, pushing back the reassessment currently due on Oct. 1. The measure was included in a broader state bill addressing multiple fiscal and policy matters and passed on the final day of the legislative session. The delay is intended to prevent a sharp shift in the city’s tax burden as residential property values have increased while office values have declined. The bill still requires approval from the Governor of Connecticut and a vote by the Hartford City Council to take effect.
