Medical Linen Company Eyes $30M Expansion in Hartford

According to the Hartford Business Journal, The Mayor of Hartford is proposing a 10-year tax abatement for a $30 million expansion project by A&P Coat, Apron & Linen Supply LLC, a subsidiary of Unitex Textile Services. They plan to convert a warehouse building at 121 Wawarme Ave. into an industrial laundry facility. The City Council is set to consider this request at its September 11 meeting.

Unitex, the parent company, already operates two sites in Hartford and aims to employ more residents with this expansion, starting with 175 employees and potentially growing to 220.

The property, purchased by HMC Real Estate Partners in 2021, will see a substantial renovation worth about $20 million. The tax agreement will gradually decrease the real estate tax bill over the years, with details about the savings still unclear.
